Mark Hemmings

Mark is a photo tour guide with over 20 years experience
giving photo tours in Japan.
Mark has literally wrote the book on photography, authoring both "iPhone photography for Dummies", and "Android Smartphone Photography for Dummies" books.


Yosef Adest

Yosef is the founder of 52Frames, leading the community for over 15 years and engaging over 100,000 photographers with guided critiques and weekly challenges.Yosef has co-led a 52Frames photo trip in Iceland, and in Japan will be supporting Mark and offering help and critique to the paricipants.

Itinerary Highlights (details pending)

Day 1 — Tokyo (Shinjuku): neon alleys, long-exposure cityscapes, street details.Day 2 — Tokyo loop: Tsukiji outer market, Ginza views, Tokyo Station, Shibuya Scramble, Harajuku reflections.Day 3 — To Kamakura/Enoshima: coastal town vibes, island causeway; weather-permitting Fuji vistas.Day 4 — Kamakura: Hokoku-ji bamboo forest, Komachi-dōri street scenes, Daibutsu and Hasedera.Day 5 — To Kyoto (Shinkansen): Higashiyama lanes, Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka pagoda blue hour.Day 6 — Kyoto: Arashiyama bamboo at dawn, Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari red gates, evening in Pontochō.Day 7 — Kyoto → Matsumoto: Edo-era castle exteriors, twilight reflections.Day 8 — Nakasendō (Magome–Tsumago): gentle 7 km heritage trail, preserved post towns.Day 9 — Matsumoto → Shibu Onsen: onsen-town streets, low-light night shooting.Day 10 — Return to Tokyo: departures or personal extension.

What’s Included

ALL in-country transportation; ALL lodging; ALL meals (excluding alcohol); entrance fees to listed locations; daily guided photowalks; practical, on-the-go critique sessions.

Not Included

Flights to/from Tokyo; visas; mandatory travel/medical insurance; alcoholic beverages and desserts; baggage fees; personal expenses; anything not listed as included.

Gear & Fitness

All camera systems welcome. Useful lens range: wide ≈24mm to tele ≈70–200mm. Tripod helpful but not mandatory. Smart Phone photography also welcome.Expect city walks and a few light hikes (generally 20–30 minutes); comfortable shoes recommended.
